    To create a NEW program for Salthaven: high quality multi-media on-line educational presentations. To train non clinical volunteers to deliver these presentations (a Speakers Bureau) and to assist in the establishment of a Youth Environmental Alliance.  

    Learning Opportunities:

    The employee will gain the following skills: research, evaluation and reporting skills, presentation skills, training and experience, cutting edge technical skills, communications and promotional skills, public speaking experience, committee management and succession planning.

    Networking Opportunities:

    The employee will, in addition to working with Brian Salt, Salthaven, volunteer clinicians and Kathleen Keating, Program Manager for Salthaven, connect with the following groups: local teachers, local students (elementary and secondary), guidance counsellors at secondary schools, Digital Home Library, organizations that offer school like conferencing, organizations such as the Royal Botanical Gardens that deliver on line presentations, UnLondon, Hacker Studio's, Start Up Canada, all manner of service clubs, retirement homes, corporations, educational clubs and associations, marketing agencies for educational products, media.

    Videographer

    Program:

    The goal of this position is to create Salthaven's first media strategic plan to include a data security protocol, create a branded professional standard intro and extro for each video and a strategy and framework to produce future videos by soliciting and training volunteers. As well as several videos.

    Learning Opportunities:

    The employee will gain the following skills: access to and training on current high tech videography equipment, training with Un London in their media studio to include but not be limited to planning, storytelling, directing, shooting and editing of video, data security and sharing, YouTube training, promotion of videos, teamwork, how to train others, how to create videos for different audiences and purposes (educational, promotional ,funny viral videos etc), web cam equipment repair, editing and storage of footage.

    Ideally a graduate of a broadcast program or person with a strong portfolio would fill this role.

    R & D Re-Location Planner

    Program:

    Description of Duties:

    The primary goal for this role is to discover potential new locations for Salthaven's clinic to relocate to and begin planning for a new facility. Secondary is the research into Salthaven becoming an international teaching hospital.

    Learning Opportunities:

    The employee will gain the following skills: how to be resourceful: the ability to quickly source out new possibilities, evaluate feasibility of land and surrounding area, create and deliver reports and recommendations, how to prepare proposals, research government environmental and corporate giving programs. This person will research educational mook's and case studies looking for a new source of revenue and the ability to influence. How to be persuasive: He/She will learn to communicate quickly and efficiently with all levels of government, evaluate research then propose go forward actions. How to work with a team: Ideally if time permits this participant will assist in the planning of Salthaven's future expansion and our growth strategy. This participant will gain critical thinking, communication and presentation skills, the ability to be flexible and juggle multiple options with competing interests.

    Grant Writer

    The purpose of this new position is to create a committee of writers and a database of potential grants as well as to write grants to fund new initiatives such as the re-location, green initiatives, web cam and on line learning programs.

    Learning Opportunities:

    The employee will gain the following skills: The ability to navigate and customize databases, experience researching databases and using grant software, hands on experience researching for and writing grants, working with a team and working independently, the ability to communicate effectively and persuade. This participant will learn about the different types of grants and how to approach each as well as how to create a team and help manage them in writing grants.

    Development Officer

    Description of Duties:

    The primary purpose of this critical role is to create new revenue through a new program(s), and to develop Salthaven's ability to grow.   This will be done by increasing board capacity and creating a non clinical volunteer process. One new program idea is to create corporate sponsorships. Ideally 12. One for each month. This role offers the employee advanced learning and networking opportunities as well as new growth and development for Salthaven.  

    Learning Opportunities:

    The employee will gain the following skills: Communication skills (written and verbal), the ability to create strong proposals and make presentations to various groups (corporate, foundations and service clubs) and the ability to create and work with databases. This person will create a new program(s), raise funds and deliver new partnerships.   He/she will gain exceptional relationship and teambuilding skills.

    This role is to create partnerships, support all above new initiatives, (YEA, Grants, Re-location, Development, Videography) as well as current programs in place at Salthaven. It is to put in place promotional and marketing material and process's and a volunteer team to manage same.

    The employee will gain the following skills: graphic design, written and verbal communication skills, team dynamics and management, volunteerism, project management, how to engage others and build partnerships.
